Silicone Spray

Silicone spray is one of the world’s best inventions. There is not anything that cannot be lubricated with a silicone spray. It is an organic compound that naturally can be used on most all surfaces. As an oil lubricant such as a spray, it is non reactive to most all substances, therefore, it can withstand most any and all temperatures for long periods of time. This is especially important if you live in an area where temperatures are constantly changing. There are a few things that you should know about silicone sprays before you start lubricating the house.

Don’t spray anything that you will sit, stand or walk on. You will slip and fall. It won’t be a pretty sight, so it is best not to use in an area where there is a high volume of traffic.

Don’t spray on anything that you plan on painting. Paint will not stick to silicone because of it’s natural lubricants. It doesn’t dry, therefore, if you spray too much in an area that you will paint, like a door hinge or knob, make sure that you wipe off any excess so that your paint will stick to the door and not run off.

Silicone Spray is really good with lubricating guns and fishing rods, be careful of how much you apply and never apply lubricant to a gun if it is loaded. That could cause a very serious accident that nobody wants to deal with. It is safest to only apply any kind of a lubricant to a gun when it is disassembled.

Because Silicone is water resistant, it is great for protecting things from moisture. Using it on marine, home and automotive metals will prevent your things from rusting in the rain and snow. If you apply it to things that have already been painted, like car door handles, it will not only protect paint from chipping off, but it will keep your hinges from rusting and freezing during the summer.

Another great benefit beyond being a great lubricator is that it is also heat resistant. This is not to say that you could light your car on fire if you spray it first but it will resist heat longer so that it doesn’t end up blowing up if it gets too hot.
